Essay:

The project is a website about cinematography with some elements of social network. It informs of latest works (release date, teaser-trailer), users’ comments on already released films.

Business objectives:

Creation of information website about cinematography to participate in partner programme of amazon.com – any film presented in the catalogue of the website, there is a link for buying it on amazon.com.

The concept of the website solution for business objectives achievement:

The main page has much interesting information. For example, random trailers, dates of release, five box office hits of the week. One can also see latest users’ actions: recently opened discussions, groups, comments to the films. One can enter the website having registered right on it or at Facebook Open Id.

In Movies section there is a library of website films. Films are divided into categories by genres. There are also separate lists Highest Rated Films, Most Discussed Films, Most Reviewed Films. The page of the film has its poster, description, cast, director. Users’ comments are also displayed here, lists of groups and users who added the film to their collection, a list of films with similar cast. One can order a film on amazon.com, buy tickets with popular online service of selling tickets Fandango.com and watch a trailer of the film.   

All users of the system can be seen in Members section. A list of users can be sorted by several criteria: new, most active, with largest collection, with most number of reviews.

Registered users can create groups by interests, for example a group of fans of a film or an actor. The list of all groups is available in Groups section. Each group has its page where the list of its members, discussions started by the group, its films reviews, and also its collection of films are displayed.

Each user has a page of the profile which he/she can set according to his preferences. All the functional of a social network is available: adding other users to friends, entering groups, sending personal messages. Besides, a user can add films to his/her collection; see in what discussions he was marked, the list of all groups and also the groups which his friends entered and also a list of his reviews. The following are also available: a list of closest cinemas (provided that Zip Code is specified in profile settings), a list of films that are going to be released this week.

Modules used in the concept:

  • Search Module (Level #2) - The module provides the search for information on the website. One can choose a category for search: by users, by films, by discussions.
  • Audio/Video Module (Level #2) - With the help of Audio-Video module the website downloads and plays film trailers.
  • Articles Module (Level #3) - Based on Articles module discussions are realized: each article can be voted for or against. Each article or answer can also be attached a file to.
  • Comments Module (Level #2) - Comments module allows users to comment reviews of the film.
  • Feedback Module (Level #2) - Feedback module allows connecting with the administration of the website.
